References and source size

Nano Banana and Seedream include the reference at the displayed output tier. FLUX adds 25 credits per reference MP, rounded up; 1 MP is 1024 × 1024 pixels.

GPT Image reference runs use the higher tier of the output and source image. Area edits preserve source dimensions and use the source tier, regardless of the output selector.

Source tiers: 1K up to 1.6 million pixels; 2K up to 5 million; 4K up to 16,777,216. These are billing tiers, not a promise of larger output pixels.

What is charged?

A new generation, regeneration or AI edit preview is a separate paid run. Accepting, discarding or undoing an AI preview does not refund its generation.

Adding or moving your text and arrows, saving, opening versions and exporting do not use generation credits. Styles, palettes and aspect ratios add no separate fee.

The same credit rules apply to every plan. Credits are not dollars and are not the image service’s billing units.

Failure and pending requests

Credits are reserved while processing, then charged once on success. A confirmed failed request releases its reserved credits. An unknown result stays pending until confirmed; refreshing or checking that request does not start another paid run.

You see the required credits before submitting. If the rules have changed, submission stops before reserving credits and asks you to reload and review the new quote.

GPT Image 2 and GPT Image 2.6 are not currently available for account-credit billing.
