PRIVACY & RESEARCH INTEGRITY

Care for the work
behind the figure.

ResearchFig is an early-stage project. This page describes the current placeholder and the principles guiding future development.

Current stage

The /analyze tool reads selected PNG, JPEG and SVG files locally in your browser to validate their format, calculate a SHA-256 fingerprint and check effective resolution at the width you provide. It does not upload or save those files. Results are cleared when the page is refreshed or closed. You can download a JSON report to your device.

AI illustration demo

When enabled, /create sends your prompt and optional reference image to the configured image generation service after you confirm. A homepage reference handoff is stored locally in this browser until the studio reads it. Returning to the homepage clears an unused handoff; older abandoned copies are cleaned on a later upload. The optional reference and edit mask are sent to the provider only when you confirm generation. Some image services require reference uploads through publicly accessible temporary URLs (up to 72 hours). This is disclosed before upload, and those services’ retention terms apply. When a project is linked, ResearchFig saves the prompt, generated PNG, annotations and provider usage in the configured project database and private object storage where enabled; deleting a project removes its saved revisions but objects that cannot be deleted immediately require a later storage cleanup. Up to ten illustration revisions and 20 MiB of image data are retained per project. Without a linked project the generated image remains in the browser. Backups and provider retention are not covered by project deletion. Provider data policies apply; do not submit confidential material until those policies and production safeguards have been reviewed.

Account and service administration

We store the verified sign-in email, account name, sign-in method and recorded login times in private account records. Authorized administrators can view account status, credit balances, payment records and generation metadata, and can restrict new generation or purchases or pause models. Changes are audited. These administration pages do not show scientific prompts, uploaded files or generated images. Account deletion removes the contact profile; required financial and audit records are retained.

Optional website analytics

With your permission, ResearchFig records traffic sources, allowlisted UTM campaign tags, safe page paths, timestamps and a broad device category in its own database. We use a first-party browser identifier for up to 30 days and a session identifier that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. We do not store IP addresses, full user-agent strings, complete URLs, OAuth parameters, prompts, research files or private filenames in analytics. If you sign in, we may link this visit to your new-account registration or a server-confirmed payment. Session records are removed during subsequent collection after 90 days without activity.

Analytics starts only after you choose Allow analytics. You can decline or withdraw using Analytics settings; this clears the analytics identifiers and stops future collection. We also respect the browser’s Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Deleting an account removes its attribution link; anonymous visit counts can remain. Rejected or blocked analytics is not included in traffic totals.

Future file handling

We intend to favor local processing where practical. This is development software; production storage security, backup retention, account deletion, provider policies and access controls still require validation.

Research integrity

The demo instructs the model not to invent experimental details or measurements, but it cannot guarantee that output is accurate. Treat generated images as conceptual and review all scientific details before use.
